Our certified interpreters have years experience in the field and are bi-cultural. Language is informed by culture so being a member in good standing maximizes the interpreter\\'s performance: intentions, nuanced responses and idiomatic expressions are smoothly transmitted. Error and misunderstanding are diminished and liability reduced.
ACS interpreters stay current through an in-house program of on-going education. Time is set aside to share experiences and discuss how challenges on the job may be met.
Friends and family members as interpreters are not a viable option: they have neither the objectivity nor the expertise required. Health care sessions can be emotionally charged, for example, and a loving spouse may even omit information he or she feels is painful or troubling.
Government funding. Your organization may be eligible for government funding now or in the future and the requisites most likely include providing interpreters for non-English speakers. Establishing a policy on this issue now, and choosing a provider you trust just makes sense. If you need assistnace setting up a policy, we can help!
Confidentiality: Our code of ethics dictates we hold all sessions in the strictest confidence; both the fact of the sessions and the content. No exceptions.
